In less than 48 hours after Hyderabad Police Commissioner P Mahender Reddy’s warning to the anti-social elements of stern action if they try to disturb the peace in the twin cities, the area police began summoning all the history sheeters in their jurisdiction.
To start with, the Inspectors of local police stations began counseling the history sheeters asking them to stay away from violence and all types of anti-social activities. Several rowdy sheeters were summoned to Habeeb Nagar Police Station on Thursday. They included the members of some gangs who gained notoriety in the recent past for their alleged involvement in sensational crimes like murders. Habeeb Nagar Inspector R Sanjay asked them to stay away from crime. He said any attempt to disturb peace and tranquility would be taken very seriously. He said there would be zero tolerance to crime in his jurisdiction.
According to sources, the Commissioner has directed all the SHOs and other senior officials to keep a close tab on the activities of History Sheeters and anti-social elements, especially in view of the festivals like Ganesh, Dassera and Bakrid. The History Sheeters of all 60 Police Stations in Hyderabad Police Commissionerate limits are likely to be summoned in the next few days for counselling. The Commissioner has received praised from all quarters for the peaceful passing off of Ramzan and Bonalu festivals. He directed his team to maintain similar conditions in the forthcoming festivals.
