Hyderabad: The City Police has arrested 35 activists of VHP, Bajrang Dal and other right-wing outfits for protesting in front of a house where religious leader Swami Paripoornanda is under house arrest said the Police.
The religious leader was put under house arrest after he intended to protest against film critic Kathi Mahesh’s comments against Lord Ram, TOI reported.
The leader wanted to take up a rally ‘Dharmika Chaithanya Yatra’ from Boduppal to Yadadri but the Rachakonda Police refused to grant him rally permission.
The Police has also cancelled earlier RCY rally’s permission scheduled for July 7.
Swami Paripoornanda had established ‘Sreepeetham’ in Kakinada in East Godavari district of AP.
“It is reliably learnt that some unsocial elements are contemplating to cause disturbance to public peace by indulging in illegal acts and cause obstruction to the rally at any place en route of yatra,” the order said.
Only Khairtabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy was allowed to meet him.
