Hyderabad, January 22: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has started refurbishing 25 parks, lake parks as part of the 100-day plan to improve the city. An amount of Rs 1.75 crore has been sanctioned for greenery works, including engineering works like painting grill gates, kerbs, construction of toilets and repairs to pathways and electrical lines.
Most parks are 4 to 5 years old and require some refurbishing. In some of them, because of growth of trees, grass lawns under shade are not growing. Overgrown shrubs, which have become woody will be replaced to give a good foliage look.
Farm yard manure is being applied in all parks to enhance plant vigour. Suggestion boxes will be placed in all parks and lake parks to elicit opinion of visitors. Small boards will be placed to educate the visitors about names of important plants. Works are already in full swing at KBR Park outer walkway for at a cost of Rs 30 lakh.
