City Ministers Disapprove Cabinet Panel Report On Fee Issue

Two ministers from BC community in the city — Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud — have pleaded with the State government to re-review the decision taken by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Fees Re-imbursement to the BCs.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Danam said the Congress government in the State was committed to the welfare of the BCs. AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy were also committed to the welfare of the BCs, he said, adding that fee reduction would force the students to make relentless rounds to banks for obtaining loans leaving studies to the wind. Danam said that he has moral responsibility to speak on this issue though he was not Minister for BC Welfare.

Ridiculing TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s criticism about Fee reimbursement scheme, Danam questioned the former whether he would give up his positions to the BCs if he really had love and concern for the BCs. Asserting that the Congress gave high positions to the BCs, Danam said that PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana, former PCC chiefs V Hanumantha Rao and Dr K Keshav Rao were BCs.

Minister for Marketing & Warehousing Mukesh Goud said that several BC students would lose opportunities with the decision of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Fees Reimbursement Scheme. He felt that the government ought to consider the fact that the students would be at a great loss with this decision. He also said that he would express his dissent to the Chief Minister on this issue. Opining that any injustice to the BC students would definitely affect the Congress interests, he said that he would draw flak from all quarters if he failed to initiate action in this regard. Therefore, he would take the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister, he added. (NSS)
