Alleging that PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana was involved in irregularities in liquor tenders, a person named Giri Yadav from Hyderabad filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking an inquiry into it. In his petition, Yadav alleged that Botcha was not only involved in liquor tenders’ irregularities but also ran benami liquor shops. Giri Yadav pleaded with the Apex Court to direct the State government to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into it and initiate action against the minister.
The petitioner pointed out that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had conducted raids on liquor shops but did not initiate action against those who were responsible for the gross irregularities. Though Botcha was involved in irregularities in liquor tenders, the government did not bother to initiate action against Botcha and others, he added.
Yadav has alleged that several public representatives were involved in the liquor tenders scam along with Botcha; but the government failed to take action against the minister for reasons best known to it. He alleged that the liquor scam was worth about Rs 17,000 crores. (NSS)
