City to host TD Mahanadu

Hyderabad, May 02: Almost 15 years after the death of NT Rama Rao, “Telugu Vijayam’’ at Gandipet in the city will again see yellow fever.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) politburo, which met here today, decided to convene its three-day annual conclave, the Mahanadu, at the Telugu Vijayam to send out message that the party was abiding by the ideals of the late NTR. This is also in line with party chief Chandrababu Naidu’s recently initiated process of firming up family ties.

Rama Rao used to run all his political activities, besides conducting classes for activists, at Telugu Vijayam.

NTR’s demise saw Telugu Vijayam fall into disuse, and the three-day Mahanadu beginning May 27 will see it come to life again. The formal election of Naidu as party president will be conducted on May 29.

Today, the politburo constituted an eight-member committee headed by Yanamala Ramakrishnudu to identify subjects for adoption of resolutions in the Mahanadu.

Significantly, as it has chosen Telugu Vijayam as the venue, the TDP is unlikely to discuss and adopt a resolution this time on statehood for Telangana.

“Naidu has already clarified his stand and there is no need to go over that again,’’ TDP politburo member K Yerran Naidu said. If at all there is a political resolution on Telangana, the party will prefer to blame the ruling Congress for the present mess in the State.

The politburo has drawn up several resolutions, including condemning rampant corruption in NREGS.

It will petition the Union rural development minister and Governor and will also take legal recourse to expose the irregularities in NREGS.
