The International Conference on Public Administration (8th ICPA) 2012 will be held in the city from October 25-27.
Addressing a press conference at ICSSR Conference Hall in the Osmania University campus here on Sunday, OU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Satayanarayana said that the conference would provide a forum for distinguished speakers from academia, government and industry to discuss problems and new ideas, share experiences of success and failure in public administration, explore the challenges that public administration possess for all aspects of governance and promote international cooperation in the field of public administration. The conference has been co-sponsored by University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, American Society for Public Administration, Osmania University, Chinese Public Administration Journal, Administrative Staff College of India and Indian Public Administration Association.
Prof Satyanarayana said that the theme of the conference will be “New Frontiers in Public Administration: Practice and Theory”. It will also have eight sub-themes including Roles of Governments and Markets; Human Resources, Public Services and Social Security; Ethics and Integrity; Budgetary and Fiscal Transactions; Governance; Emergencies and Catastrophic Events; Networks and Partnerships and Global Developments in Public Administration.
The Conference, to be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, will be attended by delegates from 75 universities of 29 countries. They include delegates from 29 universities across India. Secretary to Government of India Dr Prajapati Trivedi, Director General of Bureau of Police Research and Development Dr KN Sharma, former Public Service Commissioner of Australia Prof Andrew Podger and other eminent personalities will attend the conference.
