Hyderabad, May 18: Three days after terrorists shot dead a constable at Khilwat junction under the Hussaini Alam police station area, the higher-ups on Monday suspended local Inspector K. Sudarshan, for failing to comply with instructions subsequent to the attack.
A departmental inquiry was already on to ascertain facts in the backdrop of criticism that posting an unarmed picket, of which the slain constable was a member, helped the terrorists carry out the attack. The Inspector failed to follow the orders given after the attack with regard to force deployment and security checks, a police officer said.
Meanwhile, massive security arrangements were in place for the third anniversary of Mecca Masjid blast on Tuesday by drawing additional forces from districts. A high alert was sounded keeping the entire city police on stand-to orders for three days from Monday while patrolling was intensified with armed police contingents.
Armed policemen were deployed at vulnerable places following reports that some groups might stage demonstrations protesting failure of the government to nab persons responsible for the Mecca Masjid blast.
Hunt on
Meanwhile, special branch and special investigation teams continued the hunt for the suspects connected to Khilwat terror attack.
