City Congress is not in active mode: Sashidhar Reddy

Congress senior leader and former MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Monday strongly condemned the criticism by Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender on him meeting the Governor, ESL Narasimhan, on the issue of land regularisation.

Speaking to media persons here, Shashidhar Reddy alleged that the City Congress was still in inactive mode and therefore, he took the initiative to make representation to the Governor on an issue concerning the common man. He said that he met the Governor in the interest of the common people and also the Congress party. He said he was accompanied with two MLCs, one former MP and the former Mayor. Therefore, no personal motives should be attributed to his move.

Shashidhar Reddy said that everyone in the Congress party has a right to work in his own way to resolve the issues being faced by the people. However, he said that being the President of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee, Nagender should have taken the initiative by himself. He also claimed that he had no complaints or personal grudge against Nagender for his criticism.

When asked, Shashidhar Reddy said he was ready to face the Sanathnagar by-elections if the Congress party selects him as its candidate. (INN)
