On the occasion of fifth anniversary of Makkah Masjid bomb blast on Friday, City Police has made elaborate arrangement to avoid any untoward incident.
Reliable sources indicate that although no special information has been received from police intelligence, still the city police does not want to take any risk. Intelligence sources indicated that on the occasions of the anniversaries in 2009 and 2010 Vicar Ahmed of Tahreek-e-Galiba-e-Islam had allegedly targeted police officials. City police has prepared a special strategy to tackle the situation which provide at least 8 gunmen in police pickets.
The persons on picket duty have been given special instructions not to be lenient while performing their duties. Police also informed that on the occasion of 5th anniversary, the number of Rakshak vehicles has been increased and they have been provided with arms.
An official of Special Branch of city police convened a meeting in Purani Haveli office and instructed the SB Staff to be alert. It may be noted that on 18th May 2007 a powerful bomb exploded in Makkah Masjid which claimed 9 lives and later many persons were killed in police firing.
