Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Telangana State Committee has called upon workers to participate in ‘Karmika Porubata’ in large numbers from June 15 to July 10 across the Telangana State demanding that the government ensure Rs 15,000 as minimum wage and restrict working hours to eight and extend PF and ESI benefits to the workers.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, CITU general secretary M Sai Babu, president Chukka Ramulu and secretary Bhoopal alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was providing all facilities to industrialists in the name of TS-iPASS but he was not giving job guarantee and minimum wage hike to improve the living standards of lakhs of workers. “It was atrocious on the part of the Chief Minister, who assured industrialists of permission within 15 days and failed to state the Labor laws will be implemented strictly, they bemoaned. They alleged to the Chief Minister, who was trumpeting about new industries, was not saying a single word about the closed industries like SPM, Bilt and so on.
Stating that MGRM-Charlapally, Hyderabad, Srini Pharma, Choutuppal, OCTL, Narkatpally and other industries were removing workers when they tried to float a trade union, they alleged there was no response from the State government even when the managements were closing industries. In protest against the hostile attitude of the industrialists and the State government, the CITU has announced ‘Karmika Porubata’, they said.
The CITU leaders said they would conduct surveys at district level from June 14 to July 14 on workers’ problems. They would also organize workshops. ‘Karmika Porubata’ will begin from June 25 and Bus Jatha will commence from Khammam. Dharnas will be organized at Collectorates in all districts and at DCL offices. On July 10, State-level Maha Dharna would be organized at Labor Commissioner’s Office at Hyderabad. (NSS)
