Heart disease, mouth cancer and lung cancer are few of those diseases which are caused by the ill habits of smoking. Smoke is not only harmful for smokers but also for the non-smokers who breathe in certain chemicals which may prove toxic for them.

It has been found that many young kids are taking up the bad habit of smoking. It is believed that about 20% of the high school students are in the habit of smoking. Besides, 5% of the students of middle school have also been found in the habit of smoking.

The need of the hour is to prevent the youngsters from falling into the traps of smoking. Curing cancer at an early stage is easier and its success rates are also quite high. However, if the cancer is diagnosed late, the chances of a person surviving fall sharply.

It is advisable that people should not include smoking in their lifestyle as its consequences could be severe on the overall health of a patient. Before opting for smoking, people should think twice about their health and about those who would be indirectly affected with smoke.

Persistent coughing and chest pain could be early signs of adverse affect of smoking over the health. Normally, lung cancer is treatable by surgery and medications. However, one can also opt for chemotherapy or radiotherapy for getting it cured if other treatments have failed. Lung cancer can lead to death if not treated timely. A person diagnosed with lung cancer in the last stage has only 20% to 30% chance of surviving.
