The State Police on Monday claimed that it has so far identified 65 accused involved in the carnage of Dalits of Laxmipet village of Vangara mandal in Srikakulam district on June 12.
According to Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) and spokesperson SA Huda, the Crime Investigation Department has been going into the entire gamut of this episode. “They have fairly gathered good information so far of the actual accused who participated in the carnage and those who are behind the scene as part of criminal conspiracy,” he said.
“The CID also is looking into the failure on the part of the police in not preventing this incident or for not taking prompt action after the incident,” Huda said. Pending this, the SDPO, Inspector and Sub-Inspector had been withdrawn, he said.
A team headed by Additional SP (CID) Ramana Rao is camping in Vangara and Rajam. The case is being supervised by the IGP PCR Cell N Chandra Mouli while the Incharge CID Additional DGP S Gopal Reddy had also left for Srikakulam, Huda said.
