New Delhi: Congratulating PM Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah on the party’s victory in Lok Sabha, the Catholic Church in India on Saturday in a letter to Modi urged the re-elected PM to work together for a New India.
Catholic Bishops Conference of India president Bishop Oswald Gracias said in a letter to Modi: “I want to assure you of our prayers and best wishes for you and your team as you lead our country in building a strong and inclusive India. At a public function yesterday we prayed that God give you health, wisdom and strength to carry out the great responsibilities entrusted to you,” the Telegraph reports.
He added: “We are all eager to work together for the vision of a New India which your Excellency has spoken about — a New India which gives hope and energy to our youth, empowers our women… sustainable opportunities for our farmers and strengthens our economy while leaving no one behind….”
