For the first time, Christmas is being celebrated as a State festival in 195 places across Telangana State, including nine districts, Telangana Christian Minority Finance Corporation Managing Director Victor has said.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Victor, on behalf of the State Government, said the festivities of Christmas are being celebrated in a grand manner for which elaborate arrangements were being made for the event to be conducted simultaneously in 195 churches in the State.
Victor said it was decided to conduct the festival in 100 places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and 95 places in the nine districts. To mark the occasion, the TRS government offered to distribute clothes to 1.95 lakh poor Christian brethren, Victor stated. After the Christmas prayers, 100 persons will be invited to the lunch being arranged at all of these places, he said. Victor also expressed happiness over the State government for coming forward to distribute clothes to as many as 1.95 lakh poor Christians. Under the GHMC area, one Church in every area will work as a nodal center to conduct the event in 100 places, he added. (NSS)
