Chouhan does aerial survey of flood affected areas in MP

Bhopal, September 10: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan after an aerial survey of flood affected areas of the state today directed officials concerned to asses the damage in these areas, official sources said.

Chouhan undertook aerial survey of rains and flood affected Sehore, Hoshangabad, Harda, Dewas and Raisen districts, they said.

The water level of Narmada has increased considerably in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur and Hoshangabad where it has entered in some areas of the city close to the river, following incessant rains for last few days.

Several localities, villages and agriculture fields were found to be inundated during the survey, they said.

The Chief Minister directed the collectors of Hoshangabad, Harda, Sehore, Dewas and Raisen to survey the damages in the flood affected areas and instructed that if necessary people should be be shifted to safer places, they said.

He directed to release water from Tawa, Barna and Bargi dams in coordination with officials concerned to avoid flash flood situation in any area.

People should be intimidated before releasing excess water from the dams, he said.
