Kabul,August 07:The nation’s military is mourning the loss of some of their most elite forces. Thirty-one U.S. special operation troops are dead after their helicopter crashed in eastern Afghanistan. ABC News is reporting that 25 Navy SEALs were on board the chopper which went down overnight after an operation against the Taliban in Wardak province.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s office says seven Afghan soldiers have also been killed. A Taliban spokesman says the group is claiming responsibility for shooting down the helicopter. Neither the U.S. or NATO is confirming the cause of the crash.
