Chopper carrying AP minister suffers technical problem

Hyderabad, September 03: A technical problem in a helicopter today forced Andhra Pradesh Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah to abruptly abandon his air travel and continue his journey by road, police said.

The minister, who set off in a private helicopter from Hyderabad, was scheduled to visit different irrigation projects in Nizamabad and Karimnagar districts of the state.

According to police, the minister first visited the Sriramsagar project (SRSP) in Nizamabad district following which he proceeded towards Karimnagar.

But due to some problem, the helicopter had to land shortly after take-off from a helipad near SRSP area at around 11.30 am and after a thorough checking the chopper took off subsequently in about 10 minutes towards Karimnagar district, a senior police officer told PTI over phone from Nizamabad.
