After the by-elections, every leader in the Congress has started analysing the party’s debacle in his own way and submit reports to the party’s leadership. Likewise, Chiranjeevi also prepared a report and is going to present it to Congress president Sonia Gandhi soon.
Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana have already submitted their reports to the party chief. Both of them have stated in their reports that it was due to the sympathy wave generated by the arrest of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that the YSR Congress party had won the by-elections. They also said that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s wife Y S Vijayamma and his daughter Sharmila toured the constituencies expressing doubts about his accidental death and Jagan’s arrest and spread doubts that the Congress leaders had started harassing their family after YSR’s death. They said the tears they shed had generated sympathy for the family. They have also reportedly pointed out about non-filling of nominated posts to be one of the reasons for discontent in the party and disinterest among party leaders during the by-polls.
Chiranjeevi is also expected to mention about the sympathy wave in his report. Apart from the sympathy factor, he is also likely to mention about the ill-treatment being meted out to the erstwhile PRP men. He would also mention about lack of coordination among the party leaders. As there is a criticism in the party that Congress had not benefited because of the merger of PRP, Chiranjeevi is likely to state that it was erstwhile candidates who won the two seats Congress has managed to win in the by-polls. He is likely to explain that at Ramachandrapuram and Narasapuram, Congress candidates had won in the two seats because Congress and former PRP workers had worked together. He will mention that Congress lost because there was no such coordination amongst the two parties in rest of the seats.
According to sources, Chiranjeevi is likely to submit a separate report on Tirupati where Congress lost the seat he had vacated to become member of Rajya Sabha. (NSS)
