Megastar-turned-Congress leader and former Union minister Konidala Chiranjeevi here on Sunday lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for their miserable failure to fulful their promises made to the people on the eve of last general elections.
Addressing the party activists in Kakinada, Chiranjeevi said Chandrababu Naidu, who made impractical promises has to spend sleepless nights in future. He recalled that during his earlier stint as chief minister, several farmers had committed suicide in the undivided State. If Chandrababu can’t waive off loans of farmers in the State, the suicides will repeat now for which the TDP has to own responsibility for the extreme step of the farmers. He also said agricultural loans were converted into crop loans and allocations for Kapu community in the State budget were too small. He also blamed his own party leaders for the hopeless situation of the Congress. He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of injecting communalism in his administration and flayed the latter for not attending the dinner hosted by President Pranab Mukherji.
Speaking on the occasion, former president of undivided APCC Botcha Satyanarayana accused the TDP government of leaving its poll-oriented promises to the wind. He also alleged that TDP leaders and minister were making different statements every day on the issues of waiver of crop loans. He also charged the TDP leadership with working towards benefiting realtors of its own community in the selection of new capital.
APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy demanded that the Chandrababu government give clarity on crop loan waiver by September 6, otherwise, they would launch agitation before the banks. He also said they would not allow the banks to auction gold ornaments pledged by the farmers while taking loans under any circumstances.
Congress leaders and former Union ministers Pallam Raju and J D Seelam were also present. (NSS)
