Film stars entering into the election fray either as contestants or as campaigners for various political parties, is a common phenomenon. However, in the ensuing elections, it’s a star war with a difference in that two star brothers of a mega star family of Tollywood would cross swords in a one-upmanship game for political supremacy.
The power battle between the two star brothers — megastar K. Chiranjeevi, who is the Union Minister of State for Tourism and Chairman of the Campaign Committee of Congress in the State and his youngest brother “power star” Pawan Kalyan — began in the wake of bifurcation of the State with the latter launching his political outfit Jana Sena with the slogan of Congress Hatao, Desh ko Bhachao.
Like rubbing salt to the injury, Pawan Kalyan even called on BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and not only conveyed his support to him, but also declared that the country would progress only if Modi becomes PM. This was much to the consternation of Chirnajeevi, who is not only a Union minister, but also campaigning for Congress which is dead opposed to BJP and Modi.
However, the war for political supremacy is likely to gain momentum after Pawan Kalyan releases his book titled “Ism” written by him along with his friend Raju Raviteja. The book is expected to spell out the ideology of Pawan Kalyan and his party Jana Sena. The 134-page book with 12 chapters is said to be clearly showcasing the agenda of the party to set things right with properly channelizing the youth power.
As a matter of fact, Pawan Kalyan’s massive public meeting in the steel city of Visakhapatnam, the first after the formation of his Jana Sena, is considered as a show of strength between the two star brothers. The clear divide between the two star brothers and the growing bitterness among the two has literally come to fore today on the occasion of the birthday of the star son of Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan Teja. Obviously to prevent the fans of megastar Chiranjeevi from attending Pawan Kalyan’s meeting at Vizag this evening, Ram Charan’s birthday bash was organized in a big way in Hyderabad. It is reliably learnt that Ram Charan had diligently prevailed upon his father’s fans from attending his uncle’s meeting at Vizag. As a mater of fact, Intelligence wing of the police have also learnt that SMS messages were sent threatening to disturb Pawan Kalyan’s meeting. Even some of Chiranjeevi’s fans are said to be planning to sneak into the public meeting to create disturbances.
The police authorities keeping in view the inputs about possible disturbance at Pawan Kalyan’s meeting, have made elaborate and tight security arrangements to nip in the bud any trouble. Apart from the police arrangements, the supporters and fans of Pawan Kalyan too have taken all the needed precautionary measures to make the meeting a success without any hitch.
Despite various efforts by the Congress leaders and also supporters of Chiranjeevi to scuttle the Jana Sena meeting at Vizag, the fans of Chiranjeevi in large numbers have arrived in the Dolphin City to attend and hear their favourite “power star”. When asked the reason for their decision to attend Pawan Kalyan’s meeting, many of them asserted that they were Chiru fans but at the same time they were against the Congress Party, which had divided the State for selfish ends. Besides being attracted by Pawan Kalyan’s slogan of Congress Ko Hatao and Desh Ko Bachao, they were also impressed by the policies of the power star for empowering the youth. (NSS)
