Hyderabad, August 10: Actor Dr Rajasekhar and his wife Ms Jeevita have said that the PRP chief, Mr Chiranjeevi was jealous of the charisma of the Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Talking to the media at the Film Chamber office here on Monday, the actor couple said that Mr Chiranjeevi was unable to digest the rousing reception Mr Jagan was receiving wherever he went.
The couple was responding to the remarks by Mr Chiranjeevi questioning wherefrom children of political leaders got thousands of crores of rupees. Though Mr Chiranjeevi did not mention the name of Mr Jagan, his supporters all over the State had protested and had even burnt effigies of Mr Chiranjeevi.
Stating that Mr Chiranjeevi had followed the dubious rule of divide and rule when he was in the film industry, they alleged that he was adopting the same rule even in politics.
Alleging that Mr Chiranjeevi was selling the blood donated by his fans, they said that he started selling party tickets after he entered politics. Alleging that Mr Chiranjeevi had duped his fans, the duo said that those who purchased his party tickets and faced defeat were now on the road. They said that the person with such a character had no moral right to criticize Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“It is strange that Mr Chiranjeevi was now talking about corruption. He wanted to become Chief Minister. So, now he is planning to share power by joining Congress. To gain the goodwill of the Congress leaders and get a minister’s post, he started criticizing Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy”, the couple said.
Admitting that there were differences in the Congress, the couple, who joined the party when Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was alive, said they were striving to iron out the differences.
Alleging that Mr Chiranjeevi was fast losing his charisma, Dr Rajasekhar said that the PRP could not get a single candidate to fight the by-elections in the state. He warned that Mr Chiranjeevi would stand to lose, if he did not change his attitude. “If you do not change, you would not get a candidate either in Andhra or Rayalaseema regions also”, Dr Rajasekhar cautioned.
