Nellore, August 09: Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Monday denied making any personal comments against YSR district (formerly Kadapa) MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy by saying that he was misquoted by the media.
The actor-turned-politician clarified that his words were directed against all those who had amassed wealth through dubious means and not against the son of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
According to reports which appeared in a section of the press, the PRP chief had made some comments allegedly against Mr Jaganmohan Reddy at the Praja Chaitanya yatra in Nellore district on Sunday. The reports claimed that the actor-turned-politician had targeted during a speech at his Kavali meeting, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s business activities and had hinted that he had amassed huge wealth through dubious means.
Seeking to clarify his words, Mr Chiranjeevi further stated that the media had twisted his remarks so that they sounded as if he was speaking against Mr Jaganmohan Reddy. The PRP chief said that his fight was against corruption at higher levels and not against any particular persons.
The PRP leader said his party would extend support to all the constructive works of the government. He reiterated that the party was committed to implementation of social justice at all levels.
Mr Chiranjeevi is due to participate in a massive dharna demanding completion of Penna and Sangam irrigation projects.
