Chiru to concentrate on Tirupati even as RS member

Chiranjeevi has resigned to his membership of the legislature from the Tirupati, consequent to his election to the Rajya Sabha. The actor-turned-politician has submitted his resignation to Speaker Nadendla Manohar here on Thursday, consequent to his election to the Rajya Sabha.

Talking to the media later, Chiranjeevi said that despite being Rajya Sabha member, he would concentrate on the development of Tirupati, which gave him political life.

In the lobbies, TDP leader Revant Reddy met Chiranjeevi. There was an interesting conversation between the two. Revant has advised Chiru to take some important portfolio as Union minister, which would be useful to the State. Responding with a smile, Chiru said that nothing was in his hands and he has to accept whatever “they” (Congress) give.

It may be recalled that Chiranjeevi’s PRP has saved the Congress government at the time of no-confidence motion tabled by the TDP during the last session of the Assembly. As a reward, two of former PRP MLAs were made State ministers and Chiranjeevi was sent to the Rajya Sabha on his way into the Union cabinet. (NSS)
