Chiranjeevi, TDP leaders launch separate campaign from Tirupati

Tirupati, Dec 18: Praja Rajyam President K. Chiranjeevi, who launched his party from here, has once again hit the roads of Tirupati to declare his support for a unified Andhra Pradesh.

Arriving here on Friday, the actor-turned-politician drove to Tirumala and offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara for his campaign for a unified Andhra Pradesh.

He is scheduled to pay floral tributes at the statue of Potti Sriramulu before setting out on his road-show in Tirupati, visiting en route the hunger strike camps of all the political parties — TDP, PRP and the Congress — to express his solidarity for the agitation towards an integrated Andhra Pradesh. He will continue his show till late evening touching also the neighbouring Chandragiri and Srikalahasti towns before leaving for Chennai.

In yet another development, a group of senior TDP leaders comprising MPs, MLAs and other party functionaries set out on a long ‘Bus Yatra’ across the Rayalaseema-Coastal Andhra belt spanning Tirupati and Srikakulam. The mission of the TDP contingent, led by the former Speaker Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, is to mobilise support across the spectrum for Samaikhyandhra.

Before leaving Tirupati on their chartered bus, the TDP leaders offered floral tributes to the party founder, N.T. Rama Rao’s statue here. The entourage included among others former ministers G. Muddukrishnama Naidu and B. Gopalakrishna Reddy and TDP district convener N. Amarnatha Reddy besides some MPs.
