Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader K. Chiranjeevi has appealed ruling BJP to extend support to the Private Member’s Bill introduced by Congress MP KVP Ramachandra Rao seeking Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the reporters outside Parliament, the former minister said that special status for AP was part of the bifurcation Act and added that AP needed more finances to development of capital city and other infrastructure. He alleged that the BJP was trying to avoid a vote on the Bill by adopting various strategies and warned the BJP would pay a heavy price for doing so. “BJP will be wiped out from AP if its tries to create obstacle for the Bill and people would teach a befitting lesson for the same,” he the MP added.
The BJP, however, stalled the voting by bringing in a red-herring of Bhagwanth Mann video, leading to an adjournment of the House on Friday. (INN)
