Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi on Sunday claimed that the Congress party would win majority of seats in the next by-elections to be held for 18 assembly seats in the State.
Talking to reporters at Renigunta Airport, Chiranjeevi said that the Congress cadre was fully geared up to face the by-elections and the candidates would win them with huge majority. However, he said that the elections would not be a referendum on the State Government. He also claimed that there would be no threat to Kiran Kumar Reddy Government after the by-elections.
Chiranjeevi also denied having differences with the Chief Minister. Stating that he had no ambitions to become the Chief Minister in future, he said he was working in close coordination with Kiran Kumar Reddy and other leaders. He also denied that the erstwhile Praja Rajyam Party cadre was not happy with the treatment meted out to them in the Congress party after the merger. He said the PRP has been working in perfect sync with the Congress leaders.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that the recent visit of Union Minister and Congress emissary Vayalar Ravi has energised the Congress leaders and workers and they would unitedly to ensure the victory of party’s candidates in the by-polls. He said Vayalar Ravi’s visit was timed perfectly and it has helped in rejuvenating the party at all levels.
Chiranjeevi also assured that the State Government would take immediate steps to solve the drinking water problem being faced by the people in Tirupati. Besides releasing more funds, he said that the government was trying to find a permanent solution to the drinking water problem. (INN)
