Chiranjeevi decries Centre’s adamant attitude over farmer’s suicide

Guntur, December 29: Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) president Chiranjeevi has alleged that the Centre was hesitating to spend Rs four thousand crores to rescue rain-hit farmers in Andhra Pradesh, while it had spent Rs 70 thousand crores to conduct Commonwealth Games in New Delhi recently. Talking to reporters here yesterday, he said the Centre’s adamant and lackadaisical attitude are forcing the farmers to commit suicides in the state.

The PRP president blamed the state government had failed to infuse courage and moral to support the rain affected farmers. While they were committing suicides in distress, no effort was made to check it, he criticised.

He asked the state government to take a cue from neighbouring Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in getting funds from the Centre.

Earlier, Mr Chiranjeevi visited some of the rain affected areas and consoled the bereaved families.
