Chinese troupe in Thane on 60th year of Indo-China relations

Thane, February 16:The world-famous Zhejiang Quyi Acrobatics Troupe which is on Mumbai visit will be performing in neighbouring Thane district of Maharashtra on February 18 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Indo-China relations.

This was informed here today by senior BJP leader and President of the Vishwas Samajik Sansta Sanjay Waghule, which has invited the troupe to the city.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, the group consists of the Zhejiang Acrobatics Troupe, Zhejiang Comedy Troupe, Zhejiang Quyi Troupe and Zhejiang Stars Performance Company, with a total 180 artists.

The newly produced acrobatics play “Hangzhou Story” harmoniously blends cultural and scenic views into acrobatics in a very delicate way.

The Zhejiang Comic Troupe aims to depict real life.

The art form came to the fore nine years ago, and five plays have been staged since. The play “Who is Daddy” had been performed more than 1,300 times and the dark comedy “Doom of the Swan” is a hit in Beijing. The troupe popularised the comical play, which was originally only popular in Shanghai,South Jiangsu and North Zhejiang provinces, all over China.

The Zhejiang Quyi Troupe mainly performs Pingtan (storytelling combined with ballads in the Suzhou dialect).

Waghule said the troup, mainly consisting of teenagers will perform in New Delhi besides Mumbai and was on its way to Bangladesh and Nepal for further programmes.

In the last five years, it has visited America, Canada, Germany, France, England, Netharland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Luxemburg, Japan, Thailand, Hongkong, and Macau, he said adding the troupe will also visit the local facilities here.
