Chinese held for smuggling gold worth Rs 29 lakh at IGI airport

New Delhi: A Chinese has been arrested by the customs for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs 29 lakh at international airport here.

The accused was intercepted after his arrival from Hong Kong yesterday.

On his personal and baggage search, the passenger was found carrying one kg of gold hidden in the pocket of jeans worn by him, a senior customs official said.

The passenger has been arrested and the gold, valued at Rs 29.42 lakh, has been seized, he said.
