China’s former IOC member He Zhenliang dies

China’s former International Olympic Committee (IOC) member He Zhenliang has died aged 85.

He, who was elected to the IOC in 1981 and elected IOC vice president in 1989, died at a hospital in Beijing Sunday afternoon, his family said, reports Xinhua.

He was instrumental in Beijing’s successful bid for the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games.
