London: China has warned the United States against the arms sale to Taiwan, saying that it should be cancelled to avoid harming relations across the Taiwan Strait and between China and the US.
According to The Guardian, a 1.83billion dollar arms sale to Taiwan was announced by the Obama administration for the first time in four years.
China claims that Taiwan is a part of its territory and hence, the sale should be cancelled to avoid strained relationships.
Congress has 30 days to review the sale, but it’s unlikely to raise objections. There has been rising bipartisan concern that Taiwan is poorly armed to defend itself against an increasingly powerful mainland China. (ANI)
