Chinese news agency Xinhua has unveiled the first English AI anchor, an artificial intelligence which never sleeps and uses deep learning techniques to appear more human.

The news agency stated that “AI anchors have officially become members of the Xinhua News Agency reporting team, they will work with other anchors to bring you authoritative, timely and accurate news information in both Chinese and English.”
The agency further stated that the AI-anchor is a breakthrough in the field of global AI synthesis, in that it merges real-time audio and video with AI-learned mannerisms. The base technology for the program is provided by the search engine Sogou – which researches and develops AI.
