‘China tested Pak-made N-device’

New Delhi, September 23: A former US nuclear weapons designer has nailed China’s lie that Beijing had no role to play in nuclear proliferation.

Nuclear weapons designer Thomas C. Reed has on record revealed that China not only provided designs of N-weapons to Pakistan but also tested an N-device produced by Islamabad.

In a reputed science journal, Reed wrote: “In 1982, China’s premier Deng Xiaoping began the transfer of nuclear weapons technology to Pakistan… Those transfers included blueprints for the ultra simple CHIC-4 design using highly enriched uranium, first tested by China in 1966… A Pakistani derivative of CHIC-4 apparently was tested in China on May 26, 1990.”

Reed’s disclosure substantiates Pakistani nuclear scientist A.Q. Khan’s allegations that China was involved in nuclear proliferation.
