China slams U.S. remarks on air defense zone as ‘unjustified interference’

China has slammed the United States’ remarks over the announcement of Beijing to build its air defense identification zone in the East China Sea, as an “unjustified interference.”

A Ministry of National Defense spokesman, Col. Yang Yujun, said that American criticism of the air zone announcement is “completely unreasonable” and that the U.S. should stop sending any more “wrong signals” that could lead to a risky move by Japan, CNN reports.

Washington had warned that the latest military claim by Beijing in the disputed region raises the risk of “misunderstanding and miscalculations” in the sensitive region.

The statement came after China announced on Saturday that it has set up a new air defense zone over the East China Sea, which includes disputed Senkaku islands, as an early-warning system for self-defense. (ANI)
