China has said it had monitored the activity of the two unarmed U.S. B-52 bombers that flew through its air defence zone on Wednesday, but withheld from criticizing the U.S. action.
The Chinese defense ministry said that the government has enough resolution and capability to safeguard the country”s sovereignty and security, CNN reports.
After Beijing upset the region by declaring a new air defense zone over a large part of the East China Sea, two flew through the area in what the U.S. State Department said was a planned military exercise.
The statement came after the U.S. aircraft ignored China”s new rules for aircrafts flying through its air defence zone to identify themselves and submit flight plans to the Chinese authorities, despite Beijing”s warnings that it could take military measures against aircraft that failed to comply.
The United States and Japan have denied of recognizing Beijing”s new air defense zone, saying that it escalates tensions in the region.
Menahwile, China described the statements as “unreasonable and unacceptable”.
China and Japan have been involved in several encounters near the disputed Senkaku islands, which are believed to have large oil reserves, over the past few years. (ANI)
