China, Iran agree to jointly promote nuclear deal implementation

Beijing : China and Iran have pledged cooperation to promote the implementation of a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday, exchanged views on China-Iran relations and the implementation of the nuclear agreement.

Wang said that both sides have made positive progress in implementing the consensus reached by the heads the two countries when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Iran in January this year, reports Xinhua.

Since the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue was reached in July 2015, Iran and six other countries including Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States have actively kept their commitment and the implementation of the agreement goes smoothly, Wang added.

Wang said that he hoped all related parties would continue to shoulder their responsibilities, deepen mutual trust and implement UN Security Council Resolution 2231 as well as the Arak heavy-water project.

For his part, Zarif said Iran attaches great importance to the fruits that Chinese President Xi’s Iran visit has yielded and that the Iranian side speaks highly of the efforts the Chinese side has made to facilitate the Arak reactor’s reconstruction.(ANI)
