China hopes positive signals on bilateral ties from Japan

Beijing : Asserting that China-Japan relations are gradually stabilizing, but remain fragile, Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan hoped that Tokyo could have a correct view of Beijing’s development and send out positive signals on bilateral ties.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee made the statement as he met a non-partisan delegation of Japanese politicians led by Yamasaki Taku, the former Japanese Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) secretary-general.

Liu expressed that the CPC and the Chinese government have always viewed and dealt with bilateral ties from a strategic and long-term perspective.

He pressed that China was ready to advance relations under the guidance of the principles of the four political documents between the two nations, as well as the spirit of learning from history and looking to the future.

Urging that China’s development should not be regarded as a threat, but an opportunity, Liu hoped that Japan could adhere to a peaceful development path.

He also said that China was willing to work with Japan to play a constructive role in promoting world and regional peace, stability and development.

Meanwhile, Taku expressed that the bilateral relations between the two nations were one of the most important for both sides.

Taku added that delegation members, who were from both the ruling and opposition parties, were willing to make contributions in increasing mutual trust as well as the development of bilateral ties between the two nations. (ANI)
