Children have tremendous talents and potential to express their capabilities. It is for the teachers to identify their potentialities and to promote them.
Noted theatre artist and director Prof. Bhaskar Shivalkar expressed these views, after watching Children’s play “Dadi Amma Maan bhi Jao” at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, on Monday. Centre for Urdu Language, Literature & Culture organized the event. Children’s heartwarming performance left the audience spell bound. Prof. Shivalkar, who was the Chief Guest said that he had never expected that the children would perform so well. Dr. Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor presided over and Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Registrar was the Guest of Honour.
The drama was staged after a month long theatre workshop. The drama was directed by noted drama artist and chief consultant of Urdu Centre Mr. Anees Azmi.
The central theme of the drama was “Beti bachao beti Padao” which is a slogan promoted by Govt. of India to encourage girl’s education.
In the beginning, workshop director Mr. Anees welcomed Prof. Bhaskar. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Registrar and other guests.
To start with, five children appeared on the stage and introduced their roles in a very interesting way. The drama depicted the social milieu of the Muslim families. The grandmother is an orthodox lady who is against modern education. Farhan Ahmed, Zaid Feroz, Syed Mohd. Mushraf, Tanisha Palgiri, Abuzer Feroz, Rahat Feroz, Fiza Firdoz, Akifa Khan, A Manu Sonal, Maryam Shadan, Zoya Ahmed, Astitvi Mahima and Tanisha participated in the play. All the participants are school going children of staff of MANUU who live in the MANUU campus.
