According to an estimate, 15 million children in the United States live in poverty. They face stresses and injustices. Most of these children are living with their single mothers, who are usually earning much less than the fathers who disappeared after divorce. They do not pay child support. Studies have stressed the importance of the father figure for all children. Boys especially, need male role models. Studies have also shown a disadvantage for children raised without fathers.
Researchers have claimed that children living without fathers are more likely going to learn how to deal with life much the same way their mothers do, often more emotionally charged. They also concluded that boys raised in the absence of a father are especially able to manipulate the mother who is not as rigid in discipline as father usually is. As a consequence soon the kids are out from under the mother’s control.
