Andhra police is following the footsteps of Notorious Gujarat police and many officers and their subordinates are committing excesses on Muslims youths.Keeping law and order is police job but highhandedness on the part of lower officers in the presence of IPS cadre officer to satisfy his ego is no answer in solving the issue.
Mansoor Babu Khan, son of real estate businessman Ghyasuddin Babu Khan, was allegedly picked up by the police and bashed up on Tuesday night. The incident came to light only after the family and friends came to know of it on Friday. When contacted, Ghyasuddin Babu Khan confirmed the incident. “I was advised by some friends that it would serve no purpose if the incident is made public or we questioned the unwarranted police excesses. But now that it has come out in the open, I would like to confirm it.”
An incident of police excesses and violation of human rights occurred yesterday at the heart of the city at Mansab tank when police made the youth belonging to honourable family the target of their excesses and assaulted him badly.
Mansoor was buying cigarettes at a shop near Khaja Mansion, Masab Tank, at around 10.30 pm. Meanwhile, a police jeep arrived and asked people to disperse. As Mansoor and his friend were about to get into the car about four cops came after them. They reportedly pulled out Mansoor from his car and started beating him without any provocation, the sources added. A senior police officer, who was with the cops, also beat him up. He was bundled into a jeep and taken to Humayun Nagar police station where he was again reportedly thrashed up. He was told around 3.30 am that he could go home and asked to report at the police station at 6.00 am. When he went to the police station on Wednesday morning, he was made to wait for about an hour and let off. No senior police officer was available for comment.
Sadly the youth was treated like criminal on the road and was unnecessarily kept in police custody. The respectable persons and intellectuals of the city expressed great resentment over the treatment meted out with the gentleman of the city.
According to details west zone DCP party in the presence of DCP assaulted Mansoor Babu Khan son of Mr. Ghayas Uddin Babu Khan, whose family is well known in the city and is famous for its philanthropic services.
The police treated the youth as a criminal and kept him into custody at Humayun Nagar police station. Mansoor Babu Khan was standing with his vehicle near Khaja Manson Mansab tank at 10:30 at night when the police vehicle reached the cross road and asked the persons standing on the road to leave. DSP west zone was also present in the vehicle.
When Mansoor Babu Khan was boarding his vehicle on police instruction suddenly a police official of DCP west zone party started misbehaving with the youth and started assaulting him.
The only mistake Mansoor committed he was holding cigarette in his hand with out knowing who was in the DCP van.A police men started beating him and openly said “tou cigarette peta sahab ke samne” as this has hurt the ego of higher police officer.
When Mansoor replied to the official he was beaten up with the stick and later he was taken to the police station.
Lot of Gujarat police officers are behind bars around 7 IPS officers are in Sabarmati jail and it seems Andhra officials have not learnt any lession from their gujarat counterpart.
