Hyderabad: Once a place for children to get the education and having a nutritious food, now is converted into a Gaushala. The Government Primary School of Lalith Bagh located in Arundhati Colony of Uppuguda had been running since 1999 until four months ago.
Members of Veeranjaneya Swamy Mandhir Committee allegedly encroached on the land kicking out children who came to the school. The school witnessed a low number of students and poor children would come to have meals, reported The News Minute.
The Committee in January had approached the headmistress of the school and reportedly asked her to shift out of the building temporarily. They reportedly claimed that the temple needed a facelift. The concerned headmistress Padma Latha, agreed and vacated the building on January 21. Children were moved to Fathe Shah Nagar, that is 2 km away from Arundathi Colony.
Latha gave the committee a deadline to finish all the repair works in four months, but she was shocked to see a gaushala replacing the school. The Committee allegedly threatened the headmistress and verbally abused her on their confrontation.
The headmistress on April 11 along with students protested but was reportedly threatened and harassed. While speaking to TNM, she said, “I do not wish to comment on the issue.” The temple Committee has now accommodated a water camp near the premises.
A member of the Committee, Mahesh, said: “The land belongs to the temple. When the school authorities approached us, we offered accommodation in our community hall. This is not government land. The headmistress is creating all the trouble.”
Meanwhile, Mandal Education Officer Zainab Sultana said that the land rightly belongs to the government and the school has been working here since 1999. ” We have all the documents,” she said. The officer along with her team put the school board near the temple on Thursday.
