Children should be given pens not autos – Dattatarya

Hyderabad: Dy. CM of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali advised the Muslims to pay special attention of the education of their children and make an attempt to get them appointed in prestigious position. He was addressing the function of distribution of Auto rickshaws at Hajj House yesterday under “Own Your Auto” scheme. He told that TRS Govt. is serious about the educational and economic development of Minorities. He further told that the Muslims are more backward even than dalits. They were the rulers earlier but during the past 68 years they have become backward community. CM of Telangana State, Mr. KCR wants to see smile on the face of every citizen of Telangana. He has sanctioned 120 residential schools for Minorities. In the first phase 70 such schools would start function from next academic year. It would incur an expenditure of Rs. 2000 crore. Govt. would select 100 students from Minorities and offer coaching for Civil Service Examination. He advised the auto rickshaw drivers to equip their children with education instead of making them drive auto rickshaws. He also advised them to save money by economizing their expenses. He mentioned that as MLC, he had made the proposal for providing auto rickshaws even before the formation of Telangana State. After the formation of Telangana State, KCR exempted Auto rickshaw from taxes and also waived the arrears of taxes which cost Rs. 52 crore to Govt. exchequer but he bore this budget for the welfare of Auto rickshaws drivers.

Auto rickshaws would be sanctioned in two phases. In each district, 500 auto rickshaws would be provided under this scheme.

Addressing this gathering, Union Minister of State for Labour, Mr. Bandaru Dattatarya assured the auto drivers that he would negotiate with the chairman of lead bank for the release of funds to auto drivers. He announced that auto drivers and their families would be provided in ESI hospitals. He further told the auto drivers to give pens in the hands of their children instead of giving them auto rickshaws so that they could become higher officials of Ministers after getting good education.

Mr. Farooq Husain, MLA gave the reference of Mortad Mandal and said that this area has 500 Muslims toddy tappers. They want to get rid of this profession since the sale and used of intoxicants in Islam is forbidden. He demanded the Govt. to release at least Rs. 2 lakh each as loan. He assured that he would make a representation to the CM and hoped that he would certainly approve this proposal.

Mr. Mohammed Saleem, MLC told that TRS Govt. is poor friendly and in the days to come, CM would sanction more auto rickshaws for the city and the districts.

Secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS also addressed the gathering. Mr. B. Shafiullah, M.D. of Minorities Finance Corporation welcomed the guests. Present in the meeting were Prof. S. A. Shukoor, Director of Urdu Academy, Mr. Ram Mohan, Mayor of GHMC, Mr. Baba Fasihuddin, Dy. Mayor of GHMC and others.

367 auto drivers of Hyderabad City and 143 from Ranga Reddy district have been given auto rickshaw in the first phase. The processing of 490 more application is in progress. They will be provided Auto rickshaws in the second phase. In the third phase, 783 auto rickshaws would be given April. On this women who were trained at the National Academy of Construction were given 150 sewing machines and 74 training certificates were given.
