Chennai: A judge of Madras High Court suggested castration of rapist as an additional form of punishment.
Justice N. Kirubakaran while dismissing a petition by the accused, a British national said that castration for child rapists would fetch “magical” results in stopping child abuse. Earlier, in 2014 Justice N Kirubakaran’s order suggested mandatory pre-marital potency tests which created much controversy.
He said that though the suggestion of castration is barbaric but barbaric crimes should attract barbaric punishment.
He also suggested Union Government to introducing compulsory sex education for high school students.
This suggestion was given when he was hearing the petition by the accused, a British national who according to the prosecution had sexually abused a 15-year old student in 2011 after befriending the family and promising the mother of the student that he will support her son’s education. Then the accused took the boy who was then the student of class IX to Delhi, where the accused sexually abused the victim.
