Patna: The police today stopped a child marriage and arrested the 45-year-old bridegroom and two others before he was to marry a 15-year-old girl in Patna district.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said, “Acting on a tip-off that a child marriage is going to be take place near a temple under Daniawa police station of Patna district, a police team was sent there.”
The team rescued the minor bride and arrested the bridegroom Karan Singh and two persons – a man and his daughter – who allegedly introduced one party to the other.
The woman used to scout for prospective bridegrooms while her father searched for underage brides for them against money, the SSP said.
