Child dies as building collapse, CM sanctions Rs 50,000 relief

Chennai, August 20: A three-year-old child was killed and two others sustained injuries when a portion of an Anganwadi centre building collapsed last evening in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu.

The toddler Jaiganesh, who sustained serious injury and admitted to a private hospital in Tuticorin, succumbed to injuries today, while two others were being treated.

Expressing his anguish and grief over the incident, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, considering the poor family condition, sanctioned a relief of Rs 50,000 to the family of Jaiganesh, an official release here said.
