Chief Imam plea for calm

Chief Imam of Makkah Masjid Moulana Shamsudeen Qasimi today called for an end to all forms agitations over the controversial US film ‘Innocence of Muslims’ which showed the Prophet in bad light. In a statement here, the Chief Imam appealed to all the Muslims to involve themselves in constructive activities and launch campaigns highlighting the service rendered by Prophet Mohammed to the humanity. Noting indulging in arson and violence and causing damage to public property while protesting against the film was not the path shown by Prophet, the Chief Imam said the series of agitations held so far to condemn the film would suffice. “There need not be any more agitations,’ he said and appealed to all the Muslims to involve themselves in constructive activities. He also appealed to them not to fall prey to the sinister designs of the US film maker, who was trying to arouse the passion of Muslims in a bid to portray them as being intolerant. The appeal comes in the wake of series of violent incidents, including the attack on US Consulate in the city on September 14 by pro-Muslim outfit activists and also torching of two-wheelers during an agitation in the city yesterday.
