New Delhi, September 23: With jail reforms on his priority list, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today visited the largest prison in the country – Tihar jail – and met its officers and inmates.
Chidambaram, who spent about two and half hours inside the prison here, visited Jail No 1, 2 and 5.
He was also given a presentation on the welfare activities for prisoners and use of technology like video conferencing that has been introduced in the jail, officials said.
Chidambaram said within a few years the jail will become self sufficient.
He was impressed by the cleanliness in the jail, they said.
