Chidambaram speaks on Internal security

New Delhi, August 25: The Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said that there is no direct and credible response from the Naxals to the centre’s dialogue offer.

Chidambaram was addressing a meet of the police chiefs in the national capital.

On the Jammu and Kashmir situation, Chidambaram expressed concern over the ongoing cycle of violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

“I am afraid J&K is now caught in a vicious cycle of stone pelting, lathicharge, teargassing and firing, leading to casualties and resulting in more stone pelting,” he said

Chidambaram hoped that in the next few days, a “starting point” would be found to reach out to the protestors and restart the process of a dialogue.
