Manesar (Gurgaon), October 16: An emotional Union Home Minister P Chidambaram could not stop himself from hugging lyricist Gulzar and singer Shankar Mahadevan after rendition of the NSG’s song written and composed by the duo.
Calling both the artists the “illustrious sons” of India, Chidambaram, who unveiled the NSG song “Hum hain na hindustan…”, thanked them for their contribution.
“It is difficult to speak after listening to this stirring song. On behalf of the Government of India and the NSG, I extend my warm wishes to these illustrious sons of India,” he said as he hugged Gulzar and Mahadevan and felicitated them with a shawl and a memento here.
The NSG garrison stadium packed with commandos, officers and their families broke into a loud round of applause.
“It is like the feeling of paying back to these brave men who protect us so courageously,” Gulzar said.
